Position Overview

ProVeg is seeking an experienced and visionary Global Director of Strategic Communications to lead its global communications function and shape the organisation’s public narrative.

Job Title: Global Director of Strategic Communications

Location: Fully Remote (Global)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: €60,000 – €85,000 per year (depending on location)
Start Date: September 2026

Reporting directly to the Global CEO, the successful candidate will serve as the organisation’s chief communications strategist, translating ProVeg’s mission and impact into compelling narratives that influence policymakers, investors, media outlets, funders, and other key stakeholders.

This role requires a highly strategic communications leader with an established international media network, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams in a global environment.

The successful candidate will oversee media relations, thought leadership, reputation management, strategic messaging, funder communications, brand governance, and communications innovation, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies.

Key Responsibilities

High-Impact Media and Reputation Management

The Global Director will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with leading international media outlets.
  • Position ProVeg experts as trusted voices on food system transformation.
  • Secure media coverage across major global business, policy, and sustainability publications.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to the Global CEO and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Lead reputation management initiatives and media engagement strategies.
  • Anticipate emerging narrative trends and address misinformation risks.
  • Expand ProVeg’s visibility at major international conferences, forums, and policy events.

Strategic Narrative Development and Funder Engagement

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a global narrative strategy that advances ProVeg’s mission.
  • Creating compelling communications that engage funders, investors, philanthropists, and strategic partners.
  • Driving narrative shifts that position plant-rich food systems as a priority for decision-makers.
  • Translating organisational impact into persuasive funding and partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborating with programme teams to align communications with strategic objectives.
  • Establishing measurement frameworks to evaluate communications effectiveness.

AI and Communications Innovation

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the responsible adoption of AI tools across the communications function.
  • Improve efficiency, insight generation, and decision-making through technology.
  • Develop ethical frameworks for AI use in communications.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, quality, and brand standards.
  • Promote innovation while preserving ProVeg’s organisational voice and values.

Leadership and Team Management

The Global Director will:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global communications team.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set objectives and key results (OKRs) for departmental performance.
  • Manage budgets and operational priorities.
  • Support communication effectiveness across ProVeg’s 14 national offices.
  • Champion professional development and AI literacy within the team.

Brand Management and Editorial Leadership

Responsibilities include:

  • Safeguarding and strengthening the ProVeg brand globally.
  • Ensuring consistent visual identity and messaging across all markets.
  • Developing communication guidelines, messaging frameworks, and editorial standards.
  • Overseeing website content, newsletters, and owned communication channels.
  • Supporting international teams with narrative development and strategic positioning.
  • Leading internal communication initiatives to improve engagement across a globally distributed workforce.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in senior strategic communications leadership roles.
  • A strong international media network and proven success securing high-profile media coverage.
  • Experience advising senior executives and organisational leaders.
  • Expertise in reputation management, thought leadership, and public affairs.
  • Proven ability to lead globally distributed communications teams.
  • Strong understanding of policy engagement and stakeholder influence strategies.
  • Experience managing communications across multiple countries and cultural contexts.
  • Excellent crisis communication and risk management capabilities.
  • Strong alignment with ProVeg’s mission and values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Experience implementing AI-powered communications solutions.
  • Expertise in digital communications, SEO, email marketing, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Experience managing agency relationships and external communications partners.
  • Familiarity with analytics, CRM systems, and marketing automation tools.
  • Knowledge of misinformation management and narrative risk mitigation.
  • Additional language skills.
