Position Overview
The Graphic Designer, Web Developer and Webmaster Consultant will lead the design, development, launch, administration and maintenance of an interactive bilingual web platform for the Restoration Investment Plan for Productive Landscapes in the Dry Corridor and Arid Zones of the SICA Countries.

This role combines graphic design, front-end and back-end web development, user experience design, content management system administration, hosting management, website security, analytics implementation and ongoing technical support.
The successful consultant will ensure the platform serves as a practical and engaging resource for governments, donors, private-sector organizations, civil society groups and local communities while adhering to UNEP branding, accessibility, communication, gender equality and data protection standards.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design and Visual Communication
- Develop the website’s complete visual identity, including:
- Colour palette
- Typography
- Icons
- Graphic elements
- Desktop and mobile mock-ups
- Ensure compliance with UNEP and UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration branding guidelines.
- Design and produce:
- Infographics
- Data visualizations
- Flowcharts
- Communication graphics
- Educational and promotional videos
- Apply inclusive language and gender-responsive visual representation throughout all materials.
Website Development
- Design, build, test and launch a responsive bilingual website in Spanish and English.
- Develop a user-friendly content management system (CMS) enabling autonomous content updates by the project team.
- Create front-end and back-end architecture that supports long-term sustainability and scalability.
- Integrate interactive features including:
- Maps
- Financing architecture visualizations
- Stakeholder network tools
- Instructional videos
- Data visualization components
Website Administration and Maintenance
- Manage hosting, domains and server infrastructure.
- Ensure website availability and performance throughout the contract period.
- Implement:
- Website backups
- Malware prevention
- Spam protection
- SSL configuration
- Secure administrator access controls
- Maintain website security, functionality and accessibility standards.
- Conduct regular updates for CMS platforms, plugins and system components.
Analytics and Performance Monitoring
- Configure and manage web analytics tools.
- Monitor:
- Website traffic
- Reach and engagement
- Performance metrics
- User experience indicators
- Provide relevant reporting and insights to the project team.
Documentation and Handover
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation.
- Deliver:
- User manuals
- Source code
- Access credentials
- Digital asset inventories
- CMS administrator documentation
- Coordinate the formal handover of all website assets to UNEP LACO.
Expected Deliverables
Product 1: Visual Identity and Communication Package
- Website visual identity proposal.
- Desktop and mobile interface mock-ups.
- Minimum of 11 infographics, flowcharts and data visualization products.
- Minimum of 5 videos (up to five minutes each).
- Gender-responsive and inclusive communication materials.
Product 2: Fully Operational Website
- Responsive bilingual website.
- CMS implementation and configuration.
- Interactive tools and visualizations.
- Analytics setup and performance tracking.
- Technical documentation and user manual.
- Source code and access information.
Product 3: Maintenance and Handover Report
- Evidence of 60-month hosting and domain continuity.
- Website maintenance and cybersecurity documentation.
- Traffic and performance reporting.
- Complete handover package to UNEP LACO.
Required Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields is required:
- Graphic Design
- Web Design
- Systems Engineering
- Computer Science
- Digital Communication
- Or a related discipline
Professional Experience
Applicants must possess:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in graphic design and/or web design.
Desirable experience includes:
- Environmental, climate change or social development projects.
- Website analytics and performance monitoring.
- CMS administration.
- Data visualization tools.
- Digital asset management.
- Development and maintenance of bilingual websites.
- Work with international organizations, environmental initiatives or knowledge platforms.
- Experience with the United Nations or other international organizations.
