Internship Overview
The internship is based in Washington, D.C., and is offered through PAHO’s Office of the Ombudsman. The selected intern will work part-time under the supervision of the Ombudsman and contribute to various communications, research, and learning initiatives.

This position is particularly suited for individuals interested in public health, organizational culture, workplace well-being, learning design, and multilateral organizations.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern, you will support a variety of initiatives aimed at strengthening communication, learning, and employee engagement across PAHO and WHO regional offices.
Your responsibilities will include:
Internal Communications Support
- Assist in developing internal communication materials for the Ombudsman’s Office.
- Support the management and enhancement of intranet content.
- Help increase awareness of Ombudsperson services across PAHO and WHO regional offices.
Content Development and Learning Design
- Conduct research and assist in content creation projects.
- Design engaging learning materials and educational resources.
- Support initiatives that promote workplace well-being and organizational development.
Survey and Data Analysis
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of surveys.
- Compile and organize survey responses and feedback.
- Analyze collected data to help improve training and engagement initiatives.
Research and Reporting
- Contribute to research activities related to organizational culture and employee engagement.
- Support the drafting of reports, summaries, and communication materials.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following educational criteria:
- Be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program.
- Be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program.
- Have graduated from a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program within the past two years.

Preferred Experience
While previous professional experience is not mandatory, the following qualifications are considered advantageous:
- Academic or research experience relevant to the internship area.
- Experience conducting research and drafting reports.
- Exposure to data analysis and statistical tools.
- Interest in health information systems and international public health.
- Familiarity with commonly used software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of statistical software or specialized analytical tools is an asset.
