Role Overview
CARE International UK is seeking an experienced Interim Senior Advocacy Advisor to join its Advocacy and Influencing Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This senior role offers the opportunity to shape UK Government policy on gender equality and international development while co-leading the external engagement and influencing workstream of What Works to Prevent Violence – Impact at Scale (What Works II), an FCDO-funded global programme focused on preventing violence against women and girls.
The successful candidate will work closely with government officials, Parliament, civil society organizations, and international partners to strengthen advocacy efforts and promote gender justice worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
As the Interim Senior Advocacy Advisor, you will:
- Co-lead the External Engagement and Influencing workstream for the What Works II programme.
- Develop and implement high-impact advocacy and influencing strategies.
- Shape CARE International UK’s advocacy on gender equality and women’s rights.
- Represent CARE International UK with the UK Government, Parliament, donors, and sector partners.
- Build relationships with women’s rights organizations and global stakeholders.
- Manage and support a global team of advocacy and communications professionals.
- Produce high-quality advocacy materials, policy briefs, and campaign resources.
- Organize advocacy events and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Strengthen CARE UK’s reputation as a thought leader in gender justice.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Significant experience in advocacy, public affairs, or policy influencing.
- Strong understanding of the UK Government, Parliament, and political institutions.
- Expertise in gender equality, violence against women and girls, or international development.
- Experience leading successful advocacy campaigns that influenced policy or legislation.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and media communication skills.
- Commitment to feminist principles, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Desirable Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience working on violence against women and girls programmes.
- Familiarity with FCDO-funded programmes.
- Experience working in international development partnerships or consortiums.
