Role Overview

Action Speaks Louder is looking for an experienced Communications Lead to shape and drive the organization’s global communications strategy during an exciting period of growth.

This senior leadership role is ideal for a communications professional with strong campaign experience, exceptional digital communication skills, and a passion for climate action. The successful candidate will lead integrated communications campaigns, oversee digital engagement, manage media relations, and support a globally distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy

  • Lead and continuously refine ASL’s communications strategy.
  • Develop integrated communications campaigns across digital, media, and stakeholder engagement channels.
  • Identify emerging communications opportunities and potential risks.
  • Strengthen ASL’s public profile and organizational voice.

Digital Campaigning

  • Lead digital campaign strategy across social media, email, and content platforms.
  • Oversee the production of engaging, high-quality content.
  • Use analytics and campaign data to improve messaging and campaign performance.
  • Ensure storytelling is tailored to different digital platforms and audiences.

Media Relations and Public Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists across key markets.
  • Develop media contact databases.
  • Prepare press releases, media pitches, and key messaging.
  • Identify and maximize media opportunities for campaign visibility.

Leadership and Management

  • Manage external agencies and communications contractors.
  • Lead and support a remote international communications team.
  • Prepare spokespeople for interviews and public engagements.
  • Coordinate messaging across campaigns and stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • At least 8 years of experience in senior communications roles.
  • Experience within campaigning organizations, NGOs, advocacy groups, or purpose-driven organizations.
  • A proven record of delivering communications campaigns with measurable impact.

Essential Skills and Experience

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • Experience developing and implementing international communications strategies.
  • Strong digital campaigning experience, including:
    • Social media strategy
    • Content creation
    • Community engagement
    • Analytics
    • Paid digital campaigns
  • Experience securing high-profile media coverage.
  • Excellent messaging, storytelling, and communications planning skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex issues while maintaining credibility.
  • Experience leading remote and globally distributed teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience will be an advantage:

  • Working across multiple regions and cultures.
  • Audio-visual production and multimedia content creation.
  • Media training and spokesperson coaching.
  • Knowledge of climate accountability, energy transition, or corporate sustainability.
