About the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future

The Partnership for a Lead-Free Future (PLF) is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative hosted by UNICEF. The partnership aims to accelerate worldwide efforts to eliminate childhood lead poisoning through collaboration, policy advocacy, research, and technical support.

PLF works with governments, international organizations, researchers, and development partners to strengthen country leadership, elevate successful interventions, and connect national achievements with regional and global policy initiatives.

Position Overview

UNICEF is seeking an experienced Technical Advisor, Country Engagement and Policy Consultant to support the implementation of PLF’s country engagement and policy portfolio.

Working under the guidance of the PLF Secretariat, the consultant will coordinate activities across priority countries, strengthen advocacy efforts, support government engagement, and help translate technical evidence into practical policy recommendations that influence regional and global action.

This consultancy is primarily remote, with travel required as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will:

Coordinate implementation of PLF’s country engagement strategy.
Support country champions and strengthen national advocacy efforts.
Connect country-level progress with regional and global policy opportunities.
Coordinate multi-country partnerships and stakeholder engagement activities.
Translate technical evidence into policy briefs, advocacy materials, and knowledge products.
Support regional and global advocacy initiatives.
Facilitate collaboration between governments, development partners, technical experts, and international organizations.
Monitor implementation progress and support strategic planning activities.
Ensure advocacy efforts are informed by high-quality technical evidence.
Contribute to strengthening policy influence across priority countries.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

Master’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Global Health, Public Policy, International Development, International Relations, Environmental Policy, or another relevant field.
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in Global Health, Environmental Health, Public Policy, Advocacy, International Development, or related fields.

Required Experience

Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

Coordinating complex multi-country or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Government engagement and policy development.
Regional or global advocacy programmes.
Partnership coordination.
Developing policy, advocacy, and knowledge products.
Translating technical evidence into strategic recommendations.
Programme coordination within international development settings.

Language Requirement

Fluency in English is required.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience will be considered an advantage:

Previous experience with UNICEF or other United Nations agencies.
Experience with multilateral organizations or international partnerships.
Knowledge of childhood lead poisoning.
Familiarity with environmental health, chemicals, and waste management.
Experience supporting regional or global policy processes.
Experience engaging senior government officials and high-level stakeholders.
Experience working across low- and middle-income countries.
