Working closely with the Controller, the Accountant will play an important role in the month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger management, accounts payable, payroll-related workflows, regulatory reporting and financial analysis.
The position is well suited to an accounting professional who is highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End and Year-End Close
The Accountant will work closely with the Controller to strengthen and improve financial close processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing journal entries.
- Preparing accruals and accounting adjustments.
- Supporting timely month-end close.
- Supporting year-end close activities.
- Reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.
Accounts Payable and Vendor Management
The successful candidate will support the company’s accounts payable operations, including:
- Reviewing and coding vendor invoices.
- Processing vendor invoices.
- Processing employee reimbursements.
- Processing corporate card transactions.
- Maintaining vendor records.
- Managing the accounts payable inbox.
- Ensuring transactions comply with company policies and accounting standards.
- Responding to vendor inquiries and resolving issues.
Payroll and Financial Operations
The Accountant will also support payroll-related workflows and other day-to-day financial operations.
The role requires collaboration with internal teams to resolve employee and vendor questions efficiently and accurately.
Regulatory Reporting and Compliance
Responsibilities will include supporting regulatory reporting requirements such as:
- Regulatory surveys.
- Franchise tax filings.
- Annual reports.
- Other applicable compliance requirements.
The Accountant will help ensure reporting and compliance deadlines are tracked and met.
Financial Analysis and Special Projects
The role will also provide support for:
- Ad hoc financial analysis.
- Special financial projects.
- Operational efficiency initiatives.
- Business decision-making.
- Improvements to financial processes and workflows.
The Accountant will help transform financial data into useful information for business planning and decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- At least 3 years of accounting experience.
- Experience ideally gained in a high-growth company or startup environment.
- A solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Experience with payroll processing.
- Experience with accounts payable workflows.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet recurring financial deadlines.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
