The successful candidate will play a central role in strengthening TNC’s positioning among senior business leaders, investors, donors and decision-makers.
This role sits within the Global Marketing and Communications team and works closely with the Corporate Engagement team in TNC’s Impact Finance & Markets division.
The Associate Director will translate complex science, finance and sustainability topics into clear and persuasive communications for audiences including:
- CEOs.
- CFOs.
- Chief Sustainability Officers.
- Investors.
- Corporate leaders.
- Donors.
- Policymakers.
- Other decision-makers across corporate value chains.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications and Leadership
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the development and implementation of integrated, audience-first communications strategies.
- Develop compelling narratives that strengthen TNC’s position with corporate and financial audiences.
- Translate complex sustainability, scientific and financial topics into accessible communications.
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
- Support TNC’s corporate sustainability agenda across a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Thought Leadership and External Positioning
The Associate Director will help establish and strengthen TNC’s reputation as a trusted voice on corporate sustainability.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying high-value opportunities to influence important conversations.
- Securing speaking engagements and major event opportunities.
- Supporting earned and paid media opportunities.
- Developing strategic thought leadership content.
- Positioning TNC and its leaders as credible voices on sustainability and climate- and nature-positive outcomes.
Content and Channel Strategy
The role will lead the development of high-quality content across multiple communications channels.
This may include:
- Website content.
- Social media content.
- Email marketing.
- Thought leadership articles.
- Executive speeches.
- Presentations.
- Partner communications.
- Webinars.
- Events.
The successful candidate will also develop strategies to expand the reach and impact of Corporate Engagement content.
Collaboration and Partnership Building
The Associate Director will work across a complex global organization and build strong partnerships with:
- Corporate Engagement teams.
- Marketing and Communications teams.
- Conservation teams.
- Policy teams.
- Subject matter experts.
- Corporate partners.
- External consultants, agencies and vendors.
The role will also serve as a liaison with corporate partners’ communications teams to ensure message alignment, brand integrity and effective joint communications.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least eight years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience developing communications, media and engagement strategies.
- Experience measuring communications results and impact.
- Experience cultivating and managing client or stakeholder relationships.
- Experience supervising staff and teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong candidates may also have:
- Knowledge of corporate climate and sustainability commitments and frameworks.
- Familiarity with concepts such as net zero, SBTi and TNFD.
- Experience developing integrated communications strategies for corporate, investor or financial audiences.
- Experience positioning organizations or senior executives as thought leaders.
- Experience securing speaking engagements, events or media opportunities.
- Experience managing communications budgets.
- Vendor and agency management experience.
- Strong knowledge of websites, social media, email marketing and other digital communications channels.
- Exceptional writing and editorial skills.
- Experience working with the private sector or nonprofit organizations engaging corporate partners.
- Experience working effectively in matrixed and global organizations.
- Strong initiative, sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Cross-cultural or international work experience.

Salary Information
For candidates employed in the United States, the starting annual base salary range is generally:
$82,790–$124,270 USD
For applicants based outside the United States, compensation will be determined according to the relevant local labor market and country of employment.
The job information also indicates a UK pay range, subject to local employment arrangements and the candidate’s location.
Actual compensation will depend on factors including geographic location, qualifications, skills and experience.
