Role Overview

Action Speaks Louder is seeking an experienced Business Engagement Manager, Corporate Standards to help build and mobilise a coalition of climate-leading companies willing to advocate for stronger corporate emissions reporting.

Job Title: Business Engagement Manager, Corporate Standards
Job Location: Fully Remote – Flexible location, with preference for Latin America
Closing Date: 18 September 2026
Contract: Between 0.8 and 1 FTE, with flexibility for the right candidate
Salary: Competitive and based on location. The indicative full-time salary for candidates based in Brazil is R12,000–R13,500 per month.

This role combines relationship building, strategic advocacy and engagement with business leaders. The successful candidate will work to translate corporate climate ambition into public support for meaningful reforms in corporate emissions reporting and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

The Business Engagement Manager will report to the Team Leader, Corporate Standards and will work as part of a small and collaborative team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Co-developing a campaign strategy to build a coalition of climate-leading businesses that support stronger emissions reporting and corporate accountability.
  • Identifying and engaging experts and allies from corporate, political, academic, legal and NGO sectors, with a particular focus on business leaders.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key decision-makers, industry associations, investors and other influential stakeholders.
  • Developing and nurturing partnerships with NGOs, coalitions and multi-stakeholder initiatives to coordinate advocacy efforts.
  • Identifying opportunities to engage companies and business networks in efforts to strengthen emissions reporting standards.
  • Analysing developments in voluntary and mandatory corporate greenhouse gas emissions reporting regimes and standards.
  • Organising and participating in networking events, roundtables and forums.
  • Supporting media outreach by providing briefings, quotes, spokesperson support and background research.
  • Helping to plan business-focused convenings, joint statements and public commitments that demonstrate corporate leadership on climate accountability.

Please note that the role involves regular international calls outside normal working hours and may require some travel.

Who Should Apply?

Action Speaks Louder is looking for an experienced business engagement, corporate partnerships or stakeholder engagement professional with a strong understanding of how companies and industry ecosystems operate.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the impact of their previous work in influencing or shifting corporate practices.

Experience and Knowledge

Applicants should have:

  • Experience in business engagement, corporate partnerships or a related field.
  • A demonstrated understanding of how power operates within corporate and industry ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of what motivates business leaders to take action ahead of regulation.
  • An understanding of corporate climate policy.
  • The ability to develop a working knowledge of how emissions accounting standards influence corporate decision-making and create business opportunities.
  • Experience building and maintaining trusted relationships with business leaders, industry associations and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Experience working collaboratively across diverse and sometimes competing interests.
  • An understanding of corporate and civil society landscapes, with existing networks considered an advantage.

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

Strategic Thinking

You should be a creative and strategic thinker capable of building compelling cases and coalitions that encourage business stakeholders to support stronger climate commitments.

Relationship Building

You should have proven experience developing trust-based relationships with senior business leaders and other key stakeholders.

Communication

You should be able to translate complex and technical accounting issues into clear, credible and compelling business cases that resonate with corporate decision-makers.

Language Skills

Fluency in English is essential.

The ability to engage stakeholders in Spanish and/or Portuguese will be an advantage.

Job Location

This is a fully remote position.

The location is flexible, although preference will be given to candidates based in Latin America.
