Requirements:
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Grade 12 Certificate or a recognized qualification at NQF Level 4.
- Exposure to hospital environments and patient care is an advantage.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment/supplies.
- Experience with heavy-duty laundry/cleaning equipment.
- Willingness to work with human excreta and fluids, including blood.
- Ability to lift corpses and operate machinery (lawnmowers, weed eaters).
- Physical stamina for up to 12 hours of standing.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Willingness to work extra hours on short notice.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of Batho Pele Principles and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993.
- Good communication and customer care skills.
- Knowledge in waste management.
Key Performance Areas:
General Duties:
- Load and offload items.
- Assist artisans and tradesmen.
- Maintain tools and keep the facility grounds.
Porter Responsibilities:
- Transport patients using stretchers or wheelchairs.
- Handle corpses and maintain equipment like stretchers and wheelchairs.
Laundry Aid Responsibilities:
- Record linen movements and follow infection control protocols.
- Clean and maintain laundry equipment.
Cleaner Responsibilities:
- Clean various areas including offices and ablution facilities.
- Manage waste disposal and cleaning materials.

- Successful candidates will be subjected to security clearance as per government directives effective from April 2024.
