Kumba Iron Ore’s Sishen Mine is excited to announce the opening of the GM Matric Performance Incentive Scheme for all 2024 matric learners residing in the John Taolo Gaetsewe municipal area.
This initiative is designed to encourage higher education enrollment among the youth, addressing the concerning trend of low registration rates for tertiary studies in the region, which contributes to high unemployment levels.
Purpose of the Initiative
The incentive scheme aligns with Kumba Iron Ore’s Sustainable Mining Plan, which aims to foster thriving communities through sustainable practices in education, health, and livelihoods. The goal is to ensure that all learners from host communities achieve academic performance in the top 20% of state schools nationwide.
