Job Overview

Barloworld Equipment is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the position of Pre Learners to assist our Technicians in various tasks centered around heavy earthmoving equipment.

This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the mechanical field.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Technicians with the inspection of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Aid in basic troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and repairs under Technicians’ supervision.
• Support in the removal and installation of components in the workshop and on customer sites.
• Assist in ordering parts as needed for repairs and maintenance.

• Help Technicians with administrative tasks such as service reports, labor booking, parts returns, and managing expenses.
• Compile accurate machine analysis and reports including Machine Inspection Reports (MIR).
• Perform general duties that may include housekeeping and customer support activities.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

• Education:

  • Grade 12 / N3 with Pure Mathematics (minimum pass 45%) – Functional Mathematics not accepted.
  • Grade 12 / N3 with English (minimum pass 45%).
  • Grade 12 / N3 with Physical Science (minimum pass 45%).

• Advantageous Qualifications:

  • N2 / N3 with relevant theoretical knowledge; focus on Motor/Diesel or Electrical/Electronic Theory.
  • Technicians for the World certificate.
  • Minimum Code B Learner’s License (Light motor vehicle).

• Skills:

  • Sound literacy skills (Read, Write, and Speak).
  • Strong numeracy skills.
