Job Title: Trackless Diesel Mechanic

Overview:
Gold Fields South Deep is seeking a dedicated and skilled Trackless Diesel Mechanic to join our engineering team. This role involves the refurbishment, assembly, and commissioning of equipment, as well as maintaining the reliability of this equipment until it is handed over to the relevant production section.
Safety is paramount, and all tasks must align with our commitment to safe working practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refurbish, assemble, and commission trackless diesel equipment.
- Change major components, troubleshoot breakdowns, and perform preventative maintenance.
- Repair faults and ensure optimal equipment reliability.
- Conduct inspections in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.
- Collaborate with operational teams for maintenance and breakdown management.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to address and eliminate repeat failures.
- Ensure all safety and manufacturing standards are maintained in assigned work areas.
- Engage in continuous training to develop skills and competencies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Recognized Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mechanized mining environment as a Diesel Mechanic, Millwright, or Fitter.
- Proven working knowledge of trackless machines from manufacturers such as Sandvik, Epiroc, Aard, or Caterpillar.
- Ability to interpret hydraulic drawings for fault-finding.
- Preparedness to work irregular hours, including overtime and standby duties.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and computer literacy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be declared medically fit for the role, including passing a risk-based medical examination and heat tolerance screening.
