Actuarial Graduate

What will you do?

As an Actuarial Trainee Graduate, you will gain exposure to the inner workings of Sanlam and get to know its products and systems. We will assist in the development of your analytical abilities to further advance your actuarial skills. Your actuarial exam results, combined with your on-job performance, will determine how quickly you progress and are exposed to more advanced areas of Sanlam’s businesses.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science
  • Must qualify for exemptions of at least (6) actuarial examinations by the time you graduate

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong computer skills with above-average Microsoft Office skills

Sanlam Data & Digital Academy

An exciting opportunity is available for soon-to-be or recent graduates to join the Sanlam Data & Digital Academy. We are seeking bright minds who are eager to build and develop technical, analytical, and business skills while working on real business cases within the Sanlam Business Intelligence and Group Technology ecosystems. 

What will you do?

The Sanlam Data & Digital Academy is offering two exciting development opportunities over a 13-month period, aimed at launching your career in either the Data or Digital track.

Data Track:

  • You are passionate about all things related to data: finding patterns in data, using data to build insight, aid decision-making and process action, and to create real value.
  • You want to establish strong foundations in data management and data engineering, in a fast-moving and complex enterprise data domain.
  • You’re interested in tackling complex data problems, and learning how to apply AI, ML, predictive analytics and regenerative AI to datasets to deliver unique insights, prompts and direction.
  • You aspire to develop your analytical skills to grow your career in roles such as Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineer, or AI/ML engineer.

Digital Track:

  • You have a passion for engineering and solving complex problems. 
  • You aspire to grow in the domains of engineering and modern engineering with an interest in cloud-native architecture, Infrastructure as Code and application integration.
  • You want to solve problems by applying the latest innovations in the digital world, modern engineering practices, as well as modern integration patterns, and AI techniques.
  • You seek a career as a Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Test Engineer, Integration Specialist or Architect.

During the 13-month program you will receive

  • Ongoing technical training, real-world enterprise-level experience, business acumen and competency based training in a professional environment.
  • Guidance through coaching and mentorship from subject matter experts in the Sanlam Technology and Business Intelligence (BI) Teams to ensure that you are well-equipped to grow and become successful in your chosen career.

  • The opportunity to work cross-functionally in order to learn across various disciplines and be equipped with a diverse skillset, gaining access to multiple parts of the data and tech capabilities, and working with multiple parts of the business.
  • Rotate to different IT teams to get exposure to a variety of IT disciplines enabling you to find the best fit for your skills and interests.

SAICA Trainee Accountant

The Sanlam CA Training Programme is guided by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) regulations, which requires practical experience to obtain the prescribed technical and professional competence in the value creation process.

Qualification and Experience

  • Certificate in the Theory of Accountancy (CTA) or a Post-Graduate programme recognised by SAICA as a prerequisite for admission to the Initial Test of Competence (ITC).
  • Academic performance record average of at least 60%.
  • Experience belonging to a university/community organisation i.e. non-profit, society, club.

Risk & Compliance Graduate

With the appropriate supervision, as a Risk and Compliance Graduate you will provide support to a department, or group of professionals, within Sanlam. Part of the job function will call on your understanding of the impact of statutory/legal obligations and government legal requirements – so will collecting, compiling and analysing complex data and information.

When performing administrative tasks, you will need to show consideration for the implications of decisions and the consequences thereafter.

What will make you successful in this role?

  • Drafting of facility terms sheets

  • Assisting, where necessary, in commercial progress payments and/or development loan recons
  • Following up with external clients for outstanding information, and, where necessary, obtaining this information

Marketing Graduate

What will you do?

This position would be a traditional marketing role in support of a small internal marketing team. Your comprehensive range of marketing functions would include corporate communications, events coordination, logistics facilitation, client interaction, media orientation, brand management, and general assistance on deliverables.

What will make you successful in this role?

  • Supporting the marketing team with general marketing activities
  • Assisting with the production of marketing materials and literature
  • Coordinating the production of a variety of marketing communications
  • Providing support for marketing events and exhibitions, as required
  • Assisting with the collation of information for promotional literature
  • Updating and maintaining the marketing department’s documentation and databases
  • Managing events, booking venues, and ordering marketing materials

Qualification and Experience

  • B. Com Marketing or other equivalent degrees with Communications, Marketing, or related major subjects

Human Capital Graduate

As a Human Resources Graduate, you will assist with a variety of HR functions, some of which are recruitment, onboarding, and performance management. This position would be in support of a small Human Capital team.
