The Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development (PsyCaD) at the University of Johannesburg is recruiting for Psychology Internships Programme 2024.

Psychology Masters students, whom have completed their theoretical year at any accredited South African University, are eligible to complete an internship at PsyCaD.
About the PsyCaD Internship Programme
PsyCaD is an accredited training institute for Intern Psychologists in the category of Educational Psychology and Counselling Psychology.
Intern Psychologists are appointed at PsyCaD based on the guidelines and the principles of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (1997).
The internship programme is therefore also designed according to the legislation, policies and regulations, as required by the Professional Board for Psychology of the HPCSA.
The internship requires the intern psychologist to provide the services listed below. This is a generic outline of all the services rendered. This represents the required experiences for intern training.
PsyCaD clients include:
- All UJ students on all campuses
- UJ Staff
- Members of the general public e.g. school children, parents, families, couples, individuals, communities, members of the private sector etc.
PsyCaD invites interested Psychology Masters’ students to submit their applications for an internship for 2025 at the Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development (PsyCaD) at the University of Johannesburg.
All Intern Psychologists’ duties are carried out under the Supervision of registered Psychologists in PsyCaD, in the relevant registration category. Intern Psychologists receive continuous multi-disciplinary training throughout the year, relevant to their job description and PsyCaD functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
They are looking for Educational and Counselling Psychology candidates. The core functions of the PsyCaD internship comprise of the following:
- Psychotherapeutic Services (individual, groups, couples, children, parental guidance and families)
- 24- Hour Crisis Line
- Career counselling services
- Scholastic assessments including subject choices and school readiness
- Group psycho educational workshops
- Entrepreneurial project
- Community projects
