Requirements
- Level 1: Grade 9 Certificate GET Services
- Rock Drill certificate of competence
- Rock Drill certificate of competence
- Certified competent as an Operator Rock Drill
- Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
- Clear security screening record.
Duties and Responsibilities
Efficient operation of rock drills at both development and stoping sites to meet targets according to established quality standards. • Skillfully drill equipment by creating holes using drill steel equipped with a “knock-off bit”.
Properly position and remove a drill carriage. • Perform all tasks in compliance with the necessary standards and specifications. • Utilize the appropriate tools for each task.
Install grouted support, rope anchors, rock bolts, and mechanical props. • Maintain equipment in good working condition and prevent damage. • Carry out basic maintenance on equipment.
Report any obstacles that may hinder progress. • Report any operational issues, even if they are not within immediate responsibility. • Provide assistance to team members as needed.
Drill holes to the correct depth and angle as required by mining standards. • Install roofbolts in accordance with mining standards. • Assist with charging up when necessary. • Assist with face preparation, including safety nets and props.
