Section Ranger x4

The following positions exist for a Section Ranger under Ranger Services within Kruger National Park.

  1. SHANGONI SECTION reporting to the Regional Ranger: Nxanatseni North
  2. OLIFANTS SECTION reporting to the Regional Ranger: Nxanatseni South
  3. HOUTBOSCHRAND SECTION reporting to the Regional Ranger: Marula North
  4. MALELANE SECTION reporting to the Regional Ranger: Marula South

Job Purpose:

To ensure effective Management of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems through implementation of applicable Legislation, Park Management Plans and other planning and assessment tools, aligned with the SANParks Strategy and Annual Performance Plan in support of effective Area Integrity Management in Parks.

This involves the planning and execution of duties as well as collaboration across divisional and corporate functions in SANParks, as well as with external Stakeholders.

Location: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Requirements

  • National Diploma in Nature Conservation or a related field.
  • At least 4 – 6 years experience in a Supervisory function in Conservation Management in a Protected Area. Previous experience as a Field Ranger Sergeant or Corporal will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years practical Conservation Management experience related to artificial water provision management, fire management, knowledge of invasive species (alien fauna and flora), dealing with dangerous game, problem animal control, veld condition assessments, animal disease monitoring, wildlife capture & handling and firearm handling and management.
  • Multiple firearm handling qualifications or competencies and experience in all types of firearms i.e. handgun, self-loading rifle, manually operated rifle and shotgun.
  • Valid Code 08 (B) driver’s licence.

Handyman x2

Two vacancies currently exist for Handymen in Table Mountain National Park.

Location: TABLE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Electrical, Aircon, Refrigerator, Plumbing or related Trade Certificate would be an added advantage.
  • Code 10 driver’s license with PDP
  • A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in a technical/maintenance field.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance and equipment repairs
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Basic general administration skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and under unfavourable conditions
  • Able to work on weekends & public holidays as required
  • Candidates will be required to conduct a practical assessment.

Supply Chain Management Clerk

A vacancy exists for a Supply Chain Management Clerk at Table Mountain National Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial administration for supply chain management in the park.

The successful candidate will report to the Supply Chain Management Practitioner and will be based at Table Mountain National Park.

Location: TABLE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Accounting and or Business subjects;
  • National Diploma/ N Diploma in Financial Accounting/Financial Management/Internal Auditing/Public Management/Supply Chain Management or relevant equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in Supply Chain Management/Financial environment;
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Packages;
  • Working knowledge of MS Great Plains will be an added advantage;
  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation, including PFMA; PPPFA; SANParks Policies, and General Procurement Guidelines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Applicant must be flexible and have the ability to meet tight deadlines and work without supervision

Ranger Sergeant

A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Ranger Sergeant in the Garden Route National Park – Wilderness Section. The successful candidate will report to the Section Ranger.

Location: GARDEN ROUTE NATIONAL PARK

Requirements

  • National Diploma in Nature Conservation or equivalent
  • A degree in Conservation would be an advantage
  • Minimum of 4 years conservation experience of which 2 years should be in a supervisory role.
  • Code 8 driver’s license
  • EMI Grade 5
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
  • Working knowledge of the NEMA: Protected Areas Act, MLRA, ICMA and other relevant environmental legislation
  • Knowledge of Management plans, Law enforcement, policies, and procedures
