About the graduate internship

As an intern in the Risk Engineering Services Department of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa (SRCSA), you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to various projects and initiatives.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum qualification of a BSc in Engineering, with specialisations in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

This is a 12 month internship with an expected start date by 1st of September 2024 latest.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior risk engineers to assess and evaluate potential risks associated with client operations.
  • Assist in conducting on-site inspections and surveys to identify hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Analyse data and prepare reports outlining risk assessments and recommendations for improvement.

  • Support in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies to enhance the overall risk profile of clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in risk engineering to contribute innovative ideas to the team.
  • Work closely with other departments within SRCSA to ensure alignment with risk management objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of a BSc in Engineering with a focus on Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment principles and practices is a plus.
