Job Summary

The Quality Council for General and Further Education and Training (UMALUSI) is recruiting for Provincial Monitors x107 posts.

Umalusi Council is a statutory body mandated by legislation to quality assure education provision in General and Further Education and Training.

UMALUSI seeks to appoint suitable candidates with the relevant qualifications and experience to monitor examinations administered for the National Senior Certificate (NSC)/Senior Certificate (SC) by the Public and Private Assessment Bodies.

Who can Apply?

Former/Retired High School Principals, Educators, and retired officials who worked with the Management of National Public examinations and have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience particularly managing and monitoring examinations, are invited to apply.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or post postgraduate degree in Education;
  • Five years’ experience in the management of examinations at school/college/university level;
  • Understanding of the qualifications in the General and Further Education and Training Sun-framework (GFETQS) sub-framework;
  • Good communication and report- writing skills;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Specialisation in assessment/monitoring will be added advantage;
  • Valid driver’s licence and have own transport.

Duties

  • Monitor the Conduct, Administration and Management of the writing examination in line with Umalusi directives and requirements;
  • Monitoring of the marking centres in accordance with Umalusi directives and requirements;
  • Report to Umalusi when there is any contravention of the Policy and Regulation Pertaining to the Conduct, Administration and Management of the National Senior Certificate Examinations; and
  • Compile and submit monitoring reports in line with Umalusi requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be subjected to a competency test.

The successful applicants will be required to sign contracts with Umalusi for a period of five years and also agree to a statement of confidentiality.

The monitors will be expected to travel at pre-determined periods in order to execute monitoring functions. Remuneration will be according to the tariffs as approved by Umalusi Council.
