About the Project Coordinator vacancy

Durban University of Technology is hiring a Project Coordinator: Online Tutorship. The job comes with a Salary in the range R20 000 to R25 000 p.m.

Location: Durban University Of Technology, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

Status of Position: Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2024 (renewable based on performance and
availability of funds).

Minimum Requirements

• A finance related Bachelor Honours degree or cognate qualification at NQF 8 or higher.
• Project management experience and/or certification.
• 3 years’ experience in higher education.
• Knowledge of higher education pedagogical approaches
• Knowledge of tutorials as a pedagogical tool.
• Experience as a facilitator or tutor

• Experience in the financial and operational management of contracts and projects.
• Accounting and/or financial background.
• The ability to provide coordinated administrative support to project leaders.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.
• Knowledge of MS Office (specifically Microsoft excel).
• Competency in online platforms.

Summary of Duties

• Support the implementation of a comprehensive project plan that outlines tasks, timelines, and resources
needed for the online tutorship program.
• Engage with Software designers to ensure responsive online tutorial design apps
• Facilitate tutor training in respect of tutorial practices and use of online apps
• Coordinate the recruitment process for tutors, including advertising, screening, and interviewing
candidates. Organize training sessions to ensure tutors are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge.

• Oversee the setup and configuration of the online platform used for tutoring sessions, ensuring it meets
the projects requirements for functionality and access.
• Act as the main point of contact for tutors, students, and academic staff, providing regular updates,
answering inquiries, and addressing concerns throughout the project.
• Implement systems to track the progress of the tutorship program, collecting feedback from students,
tutors and academic staff to identify areas for improvement.

• Promote quality assurance processes to maintain the effectiveness and consistency of tutoring sessions,
including conducting periodic evaluations of tutor performance.
• Monitor the budget allocated for the tutorship project, tracking expenses and ensuring spending remains
within approved limits.
• Maintain detailed records of project activities, including meeting minutes, progress reports, and financial
documents. Prepare monthly reports for project leader, summarizing key accomplishments, challenges,
and next steps.
