Junior Analyst

Description:

If you have an aptitude for investigating; research and analysis of complex economic or legal issues, and you are interested in joining our hard-working team of competition practitioners, then the Competition Commission’s Mergers and Acquisitions Division invites you to apply for the position of Junior Analyst.

The core function of a Junior Analyst is to investigate mergers and acquisitions, as part of a team and/or independently.

A starting annual total cost to company package of R 835 236,40 (Negotiable, commensurate with experience). Please note that this position is available on a five (5) year fixed-term contract, renewable.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

We are looking for an individual who meets the following requirements:

  • An Honours Degree in Economics or a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree.
  • MUST have at least 2 years’ experience of which 1 year MUST be within Competition.

Other considerations:

  • Practical work exposure to area of expertise will be further considered to balance against other requirements.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Understanding and interest on competition matters.

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and a committed individual who meets the following requirements:

  • At least an Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification and 1 – 3 years working experience in complex investigations. Experience in investigating competition law cases will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to undertake complex investigations independently and within multidisciplinary teams; lead investigation teams; possess written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills; and stakeholder management skills.
  • Working experience in information collection and analysis, both on a tactical and strategic level.

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and a committed individual who meets the following requirements:

  • A completed LLB Degree or equivalent qualification minimum
  • A minimum of 4 – 6 years working experience in complex investigations and prosecutions.
  • Experience in investigating and prosecuting competition law cases will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to undertake complex investigations and prosecutions independently and within multidisciplinary teams; lead investigation and prosecution teams; possess written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills; and stakeholder management skills.
  • Working experience in information collection and analysis, both on a tactical and strategic level.
