About Robben Island Museum

Robben Island Museum (RIM) is a public entity responsible for managing, maintaining, presenting, developing and marketing Robben Island as a national estate and World Heritage Site. It was established by the Department of Arts and Culture in 1997.

RIM implements a wide range of conservation, educational, tourist development, research, archiving and general heritage programmes that are designed to achieve its mandate; conserve the Island’s natural and cultural resources and heritage; and promote it as a platform for critical debate and life-long learning.

RESEARCH ARCHIVAL ASSISTANT X1
TOTAL COST TO COMPANY: R 7332.63 pm
12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT

The above short-term position exists in the Heritage & Research Department at Robben Island Museum. Incumbents are to travel to specified locations to collect data on women Ex-Political Prisoners on behalf of Robben Island Museum.

This data would be populated into a database that would serve as a source document for future projects.

Minimum requirements:

  • Unemployed graduate or prior work experience in Archival Studies/ Records Management
  • Excellent telephone manner and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other of the official languages spoken in South Africa.
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel away for 4 weeks at a time

Research Multimedia Assistant x1

RESEARCH ASSISTANT
MULTIMEDIA TECHNICIAN X1
TOTAL COST TO COMPANY: R 7332.63 pm
12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT

The above short-term position exists in the Heritage & Research Department at Robben Island Museum. Incumbents are to travel to specified locations to collect data on women Ex-Political Prisoners on behalf of Robben Island Museum.

  • Excellent telephone manner and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other of the official languages spoken in South Africa.

  • Ability to travel away for 4 weeks at a time.

Research Admin Assistant x1

RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR ASSISTANT X1

12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT

  • Ability to travel away for 4 weeks at a time.
