Location: The Lapalala Wilderness School (LWS), situated in the Waterberg District of the Limpopo Province.

The Lapalala Wilderness School was founded by Clive Walker and Dale Parker under the auspices of the Wilderness Trust.

Today, Lapalala Wilderness School stands as a profound reminder of the legacy left by the visionaries who first conceived it. 

Tens of thousands of students and teachers – from primary and secondary schools right up to universities in Africa and elsewhere – have passed through this centre of environmental learning and been transformed.

As Lapalala Wilderness School enters its 40th year in 2025, it is increasingly recognised as a centre of excellence in environmental education.

Internship Qualifications

Lepala Wilderness School is seeking for SIX Environmental Educator intern, who successfully completed any of the following:

  • Diploma or Advance Diploma in Nature Conservation/Game Ranch Management or
  • Bachelor of Science Honors Environmental and Geographical Science or
  • Related studies.

Advantages:

  • A valid code 10 or Cl driver’s license with PrOP will be essential for this position.
  • The ability to speak Northern Sotho/Sepedi/Setswana fluently will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Environmental Educator Intern has ultimate responsibility for conducting a learning experience in all educational activities of LWS, implementing and facilitating all Environmental Education activities and is accountable to the LWS Environmental Education manager.

Functions of this position, broken down Into the following Key Performance Area (KPAs)

  • Planning and development of educational activities and learning experience at LWS.
  • Develop and design learner’s activities and learning materials which are suitable for the visiting group.
  • Plan learning activities.
  • Design the instructional programme for learners.
  • Prepare a teacher guide and learners activities manuals.
  • Plan to conduct outdoor based environmental education and leadership courses.
  • Participate in developing and planning the activities of tertiary programme.
  • Establishes work plan priorities on weekly basis.
