South African Weather Service Internship Programme 2024-2025

South African Weather Service (SAWS) is recruiting for the Marine Internship Programme 2024-2025.

Closing date: 06 June 2024

Location: Interns will be placed at the SAWS office in Cape Town. SAWS Will not pay for relocation costs.

Stipend: Successful candidates will be responsible for their own transport to the office. The SAWS will pay a monthly stipend of R6 500.00

About South African Weather Service

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a public entity under the Ministry of Water and Environmental Affairs and is governed by a Board of Directors.

It is an authoritative voice for weather and climate forecasting in South Africa and as a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) it complies with international meteorological standards.

As an Aviation Meteorological Authority, SAWS is designated by the state to provide weather services to the aviation industry, marine and a range of other identified clients and to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government.

About the Marine Services Internships

SAWS are looking for high- achieving graduates to join our Internship Programme in the following fields:

Marine Services (Cape Town) – Degree or Bachelor of Science: Marine, Atmospheric science, Ocean Observation, Oceanography, – 1 Position
Marine Services (Cape Town) – National Diploma: Electrical Engineering – 1 Position

How to Apply

Applicants must comply with the following requirements:

  • Submit detailed CV with all necessary information (i.e., Address and DOB)
  • Applicant to attach academic transcript on the Recruitment Portal, including their Qualifications
  • Applicant must be 18 – 35 years of age.
  • An applicant must have been unemployed and with no work experience

Successful candidates will be required to enter into an Internship Agreement with SAWS for a duration of twelve months. There will be no obligation to employ the intern on completion of the Programme.
